WHAT TO EXPECT:
I like to create a “private coffee house” feel to my sessions, like we are just chatting over a cup of coffee and discussing whatever life issues are currently on your mind. I use a relational approach as my foundation to psychotherapy, which quickly helps most clients feel comfortable in working with me. I tend to be direct yet gentle and use curiosity to our therapeutic advantage. YOU are always the leader in this relationship; I will simply walk alongside offering support, insights, suggestions, and questions to ponder.
I may occasionally offer a gentle challenge if needed, but I always respect your perspective and decisions. I believe in the inherent worth of every individual and strive to provide a safe and supportive space for you to grow, heal, and thrive.
You are as likely to see me arrive to session in a warm, soft hoodie as you are to see me in more professional clothing, so dress comfortably! Genuineness is important in connecting with my clients, so why pretend I am always comfortable dressing up? In this increased “work-from-home” era, many folks are more casual in attire, and I welcome that in our sessions.
WHAT CONDITIONS DO I TREAT:
I provide psychotherapy for a variety for mental health concerns, with particular interest in the following:
• Terminal and/or Chronic Illness (such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, systemic sclerosis, diabetes, etc.)
• Traumatic Brain Injury
• Caregiver stress (for those caring for the elderly, for young or adult children with special needs, and for the terminally/chronically ill)
• Spiritual and/or religious issues (I welcome any religious or faith background)
• Trauma
• Grief and Loss
I have additional significant experience and/or interest in the following:
• Low Self-esteem/Self-worth
• Depression and/or Anxiety
• Trauma and PTSD
• Pharmacology education/Medication tracking
• Serious Mental Illness
LICENSURE, EXPERIENCE, & EDUCATION:
I hold full, independent licenses to practice as a Clinical Social Worker in both Michigan (LMSW-C) and New Jersey (LCSW) with an accumulation of over 10 years of professional experience in medical and clinical social work. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts(psychology, spirituality) from Union Institute & University/Vermont College and a Master’s degree in Social Work (Clinical/Mental Health) from the University of Southern California.
